Springtime Blossoms

As the seasons change, winter fades and spring arrives, let us first plant a seed.
Wait for the right time to see it bloom tall and proud.

You're probably tired of hearing the phrase, "Campus life is always the simplest and most enjoyable," right? You always yearn to break free from the constraints of school and embark on a more exciting life path. But when you realize that things are often futile, and many things aren't like exam papers where complex questions can be answered, and when you accept that some things in life will never have answers, that's when you're ready to embrace growth.

No one can describe what you'll be like as you grow up, but you'll never be alone in the process. As you search for solutions to unanswerable problems, you're actually moving further away from the difficulties. If you still feel helpless and lonely, pick up a book; there's still a place where you can find peace.

[Author's Preface: Connecting Through Emotion, Passing on Feelings]

As time goes by, people change, events change, and feelings change. Especially now, after experiencing the turmoil of a world reborn from the pandemic, I have learned to cherish every opportunity, and I am happy to participate and see the results whenever my writing can be of use.

In the seventeen years I've been involved in publishing, I've written more than thirty novels. In addition to my own works, there have been collaborative novels written by young authors when I was just starting out, workplace anecdotes written with my junior colleague who is also an editor, and a charity project I was invited by the late Ni Kuang to select the protagonists of his non-human society stories to continue writing. Of course, the most profound of all are the love stories I co-wrote with my partner before and after marriage.

Unlike the creative work I've experienced before, the publishing policy for this co-authored book is "to write a story about growing up for teenagers with the utmost passion and effort," with the aim of moving readers and awakening their conscience. This is a type of book I've never written before, and it's extremely challenging.

Of the twenty stories in the book, I participated in four, using "inheritance" as the theme and "emotion" as the connecting thread. All the stories I wrote were based on true stories from my own life. I admit that before moving the readers, I was moved by the stories themselves. It's rare to find time to reflect on the past through writing, and this is perhaps the most unexpected gain from participating in this "Hong Kong Writers' Showcase".

This publication was originally an unexpected stroke of luck. Learning of the opportunity to co-author a book with my mentor and fellow students in the same department was incredibly meaningful and a rare chance—a true teacher-student bond. I wonder if, as you hold this book in your hands, you'll find a connection with us through words? Will the stories within evoke similar memories for you?

Finally, I hope that through this story you will appreciate another kind of graduation besides horror, or that one day when we meet, you will gladly tell me about your growth experience.
